Vermont Registered Agent.co
Professional registered agent Service

About us: Vermont Registered Agent.co

Vermont Registered Agent.co is the best and most affordable registered agent in Vermont: $99 a year, the same at renewal.

Our registered agent service

Here is what the plan covers.

Vermont registered agent representation, billed at $99 per year. Includes the office address on your filings, same-day scanning of legal mail, and reminders for state deadlines.

  • A registered agent of record in Vermont, listed on your state filing.
  • We accept service of process and official state mail on your company's behalf.
  • Service of process and Secretary of State mail are scanned to your online account, with an email to you.
  • Up to 3 other official (legal) letters a year are scanned at no extra charge, for example letters from the IRS.
  • Annual report due-date reminders by email.

Where mail and privacy are concerned, as your registered agent we take in service of process and official Vermont correspondence for you, and our address can go on your public filings so your own never appears. That said, we are not a package-forwarding outfit. Service of process is scanned to you the same day at no charge, anything else you want scanned is $15 an item, and we bill actual postage if a paper original has to be sent.

Pricing

Registered agent service in Vermont: $99/year. It renews automatically each year at $99 unless you turn off auto-renewal or cancel in your online account.

State fees are shown separately from our fee. We collect them with your order and pay them to the state at cost when we file.

Outside the plan

  • A virtual mailbox or mail forwarding. Everyday business mail is charged per piece to view, legal letters beyond the 3 a year are charged per piece, junk mail is discarded and packages are refused.
  • Filing your annual report. That is a separate service with its own fee plus the state's fee.
  • State filing fees of any kind.
  • Forming the company, or any amendment or reinstatement filing.

Change of registered agent to us: $0 our fee + $35 Vermont filing fee = $35. The registered agent service itself is $99/year.

  1. Choose your new agent. Vermont's statute (11 V.S.A. § 4007) allows an individual Vermont resident, a domestic corporation, another LLC, or a foreign corporation or foreign LLC authorized in the state. Whoever it is needs a real Vermont street address. PO boxes and virtual offices do not count.
  2. File the Change of Registered Agent. Formally a Statement of Change, filed with the Secretary of State's Business Services Division. Vermont issues no numbered form for it; you submit through the state's online business portal. The filing names your entity, the old agent, the new agent, and the new registered office address.
  3. Pay the $35 state fee. Set by 11 V.S.A. § 4008, paid straight to the Secretary of State. If you have seen $25 quoted somewhere, that is the outdated figure. It is a one-time charge, separate from whatever your new agent bills for service.
  4. Verify the update. Once processed, run your entity through the Secretary of State's business search and confirm the new agent shows correctly.

Vermont rules this covers

For LLCs, the controlling statute is 11 V.S.A. § 4007, which pairs the "designated office" with the agent for service of process (agent changes run through § 4008). The practical requirements:

  • Who qualifies: an individual Vermont resident, a domestic corporation, another LLC, or a foreign corporation or foreign LLC authorized to do business in Vermont. A company acting as agent must be registered with the state and in active status.
  • Address: a street address in Vermont is mandatory for the agent. PO boxes and virtual offices are prohibited. Oddly enough, the company's own designated office can sit out of state; the agent is the piece Vermont insists stays local.
  • Availability: the agent must be present at the registered office during all regular business hours.
  • Self-appointment: limited. State guidance requires the agent to be "other than the represented business itself," so your LLC cannot list itself. A Vermont resident who owns the business can be listed personally, as an individual.

Policies

Registered agent service renews automatically for another year on each renewal date, unless you turn off auto-renewal or cancel in your online account, or give written notice at least 30 days before the renewal date. Renewal reminders go out about 60 days ahead.

You can cancel at any time from your online account or by contacting support. Cancelling does not by itself remove us as registered agent on the state record; a change of registered agent or resignation filing does that.

Anything already filed with the government is not refundable. Registered agent fees are not refundable once we or our partner have been appointed with the state. State fees are not refundable once paid to the state.
